I simply decided to support any changes to the Ardour ebuild on my own. I use Ubuntu and don't have this problem: Kick and snare both go directly to the drums bus along with these two sub busses and the drums bus is routed directly to the master. Maybe I'll write an ardour-bin ebuild. This setup worked perfectly in previous versions of ardour. No problems at all.
